SNS 2000 Modern Lifeboat

Introduction

In January 2004 I started to build the Cap
Maquettes Kit of the SNS 2000 modern lifeboat.
The kit was purchased from
Bow Wave Models
with both fitting kits.
Model Overview

A 1:15 scale model of a high speed lifeboat with rakish lines. 85cms X
25cms (34.5"X 10") Life boat kits are not usually recommended for
beginners but anyone who has built a wooden model before will find the
SNS2000 a very straight forward project.

The model is of all plywood construction with cast resin trim. All parts are
CNC milled to shape to ensure accuracy. Included with the basic wood kit
are two high quality Graupner style shafts and props chosen to allow the
modeler to fit the motors and couplings of his choice. Pre formed railings,
stainless steel blocks & rigging wire plus an ample supply of brass and
plastic rod, and cast resin mouldings.

A full-size plan in English French and German is coupled with
photographs of each stage of the models construction with all part
numbers displayed. An English guide to building the model is provided
along with suggestions regarding motors for scale or high speed
performance.

Two fitting kits are available: Pack A, includes bollards, anchor, winch ,
radar, life rings, searchlights, vents, boat hooks, all moulded in
pre-coloured resin and ready to fit, flagpole, fire monitor, navigation and
deck lights, stainless steel helm and moulded silicon fenders. 46 packets
containing approx 70 fittings.

Fittings pack B. ( Not shown) This set contains a highly detailed, R.I.B.
Zodiac complete with outboard, fuel tank and paddles cast in resin.

Additional Requirements

The model requires 2-6 function radio control depending on the extra
features you wish to install, for example the fire monitor and radar can be
modified to operate / rotate , sound units, sirens etc. can all be
accommodated .

were in distress in the swimming
pool at Pontins Brean. The one below
